It seems the safest bet for getting along with people these days is to shut the fuck up and stay home. Load up your Winchester and stick the barrel out the front window so those racist pricks know you aren't going to put up with any more shit.

People get offended by the strangest things. I'm half Mexican and half Italian. I don't exactly look white, I'm often taken for Hispanic. What am I? I'm part of the melting pot that is America. I'm 68-years old and, yes, I have been discriminated against many times. But I can also tell the difference when someone is simply trying to be friendly and inquisitive. When I was a kid in school it was a regular thing to ask others "what's your nationality"? I thought is was cool to have friends who were Indian, African, or Chinese. No one thought anything about it. We laughed together, played together, had dinner at each others houses, etc. It was a simple way to get to know each other. It wasn't racism. It was friendly people conversing.

I'm well aware of the fact that black folks have lived under systemic racism for hundreds of years. It must stop soon or this country will fall apart. But taking offense every time someone asks a "personal" question is not the solution. Don't wear you heart on you sleeve. Have a conversation. You just might make a friend.
