Reaching for the Best That 2022 Can Give Us

SO, HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT 2021? True, it’s not over yet, we have about six weeks left, and we do have “the holidays” to look forward to, but you can probably still express how the past 46 months felt to you.

I was happy that we at least seemed to get COVID under control. It’s certainly not gone, and probably never will be, but we have gained some breathing room. I’m pleased that my family has remained healthy, and my son has recovered from his head injury. Beyond these things, the year was not especially productive or inspiring. As a country (US), we’ve been dogged all year by sickness, racism, ugly politics, and a truly weird market economy.

Can we make our next 365 days better?

It’s time to start looking forward to making 2022 a year of personal recovery both mentally and physically. This could be a year when we restart our engines and reconsider our lives with a fresh, uplifting mindset.

I’m not a New Year’s resolutions type of guy but I do look forward to having a clean slate, so to speak. To be free from the grit and grime of the previous year, and make the new year more organized, less conflicted, and happier, despite the zeitgeist. I try to look past the shortcomings of the previous year by brainstorming new ideas I’d like to explore, and new places I’d like to visit — both literal and figurative. I attempt…
